Newfoundland French Toast

Makes 4 servings


  • 4 lg eggs (beaten)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Salt & pepper
  • 8 thick slices white bread
  • Butter for cooking


In a lg bowl, combine and whisk all ingredients (excluding bread) until well incorporated. Season to taste. Dip each bread slice into egg mixture, gently coating all sides. Cook on med-heat in a buttered skillet until all sides are lightly brown. Lightly dust with icing sugar and serve with maple syrup.
