This recipe was given to me by Zina Benoit (nee Simon). Zina stated, she remembers having this molasses toast with her Grand-mere Minnie Simon when she was a very young girl. It is extremely delicious and addictive. Zina guesstimates this recipe to be over 100 years old.
Molasses Toast in a Skillet
Makes 1 serving
- 1 thick slice bread
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 2 tbsp butter (or margarine)
Spread both sides of bread with molasses and butter. In a skillet, med-high heat, grill bread on both sides until golden brown. Serve hot and garnish with icing sugar. Excellent with a glass of cold milk.
